Life Extension Review 2026: Costs and Alternatives

Life Extension Review 2026: Costs and Alternatives – Eternal Elixir Nicotinamide Riboside 500mg bottle

Edited by Elaine Fletcher, Researcher

Quick answer: Life Extension is a long-running, privately held US supplement company with a huge catalog, a 365-day return window and a solid testing record at ConsumerLab. Its NAD+ products are where the price question gets interesting. The flagship NAD+ Cell Regenerator costs $40.50 for 30 capsules of 300 mg nicotinamide riboside (NR), which is $4.50 per gram of NR. Its NMN capsules are much cheaper per gram. For NR, our pick is Eternal Elixir Nicotinamide Riboside 500mg: 500 mg per capsule, 60 servings for $59.99, $1.00 a serving and $2.00 per gram, less than half the price per gram of Life Extension’s NR.

Eternal Elixir makes Nicotinamide Riboside 500mg, NMN 500mg and Trans-Resveratrol 600mg, the products we set against Life Extension below, and Nicotinamide Riboside 500mg is our pick. That makes us a competitor, so read this as a competitor’s review. We did not buy or lab-test Life Extension products. Every Life Extension figure here comes from its product pages, about page, shipping page and returns page, or from ConsumerLab’s public brand page, read in September 2026. Here is how we write and review content.

Life Extension review 2026: who they are and what they sell

Life Extension says it has been privately held for more than 40 years, and that 99% of its supplements are made in the US from ingredients sourced worldwide. It sells hundreds of formulas across most health categories, from multivitamins and fish oil to NAD+ precursors and resveratrol, and it also sells blood tests and publishes its own magazine. That breadth is the brand’s defining feature. One order can cover a whole cabinet.

The terms are generous. US shipping is free on orders over $50, and members of its LE Rewards Premier tier get free standard shipping on every order. Supplements bought on its website or by phone can be returned for a refund, exchange or replacement for up to 365 days after purchase, though some returns carry a $5.50 fee for the prepaid label. AutoShip subscriptions get a lower price and free shipping.

For longevity buyers, the relevant shelf is small. Life Extension sells NR as NAD+ Cell Regenerator, NMN as NAD+ Cell Support, versions of both combined with a small resveratrol blend, and Optimized Resveratrol Elite. Those are the products we compare below. Our NAD+ supplement comparison and our ranking of the best NMN supplements put them in the wider US market.

Is Life Extension third-party tested? What the record shows

Life Extension’s product FAQ says raw materials are batch-tested for heavy metals, microbes and other contaminants, and that finished products are tested for heavy metals, microbes and active ingredient amounts. It says it provides a certificate of analysis for every product, but you request it by calling customer support rather than downloading it from the product page. If lot testing matters to you, ask for the certificate that matches the lot number on your bottle. That applies to every brand, ours included.

ConsumerLab, a subscription service that buys supplements and tests them, reports 38 Life Extension products tested. Of the 24 that ConsumerLab chose itself, 20 passed, 3 did not and 1 had another status. Another 14 were tested through ConsumerLab’s voluntary program, which brands sign up for, and passed. Most product-level results are for members only.

Life Extension also shows ratings from ConsumerLab’s annual survey of supplement users on its pages. That survey measures customer satisfaction, not lab results, so read it as a popularity score.

What Life Extension’s NAD+ claim traces back to

The NAD+ Cell Regenerator page says adults taking 300 mg of nicotinamide riboside had a 51% increase in blood NAD+ after two weeks, and cites Scientific Reports, 2019. That trial is real and the figure checks out, with context the page leaves out.

In the trial (Conze and colleagues, 2019), 140 overweight but otherwise healthy adults took a placebo or 100 mg, 300 mg or 1,000 mg of NIAGEN nicotinamide riboside a day for 56 days, 35 people per group. Within two weeks, whole-blood NAD+ rose by 22%, 51% and 142% at the three doses, and the increases held for the rest of the study. There was no flushing and no difference in side effects between the NR and placebo groups. ChromaDex, which makes NIAGEN, funded the study. Two authors were ChromaDex employees, and the third was its chief scientific adviser.

So the 51% is the middle dose of three. The same trial’s 1,000 mg group more than doubled blood NAD+. A 300 mg capsule is a reasonable dose, but it isn’t the most the trial tested. Our 500 mg capsule sits between the 300 mg and 1,000 mg groups.

An independent trial points the same way. In a crossover study in Nature Communications (Martens and colleagues, 2018), 30 healthy middle-aged and older adults took 500 mg of NR twice a day or a placebo for six weeks each, and 24 completed both phases. NR was well tolerated and raised NAD+ metabolism, and the authors said blood pressure and arterial stiffness were worth studying in future trials.

Evidence level: randomized human trials showing that NR raises blood NAD+ over weeks to months. They did not show a health outcome, and NR has not been shown to extend human lifespan. No published trial has tested Life Extension’s finished product or ours. Our Tru Niagen review covers the NIAGEN brand itself, and our nicotinamide riboside comparison ranks other NR capsules.

Life Extension vs Eternal Elixir: cost per gram of NAD+ precursor

A 30-capsule bottle and a 90-capsule bottle can’t be compared on sticker price. The table converts each product to cost per gram of NR or NMN, using each label’s stated amount and each brand’s one-time US price as of Sep 2026.

On NR, the gap is wide. Both products use nicotinamide riboside chloride. Ours costs $2.00 per gram against $4.50 for NAD+ Cell Regenerator, puts 500 mg in each capsule instead of 300 mg, and gives 60 servings to a bottle instead of 30. The combined version with Resveratrol Elite adds 10 mg of trans-resveratrol per capsule, a small fraction of the 150 mg a day used in the two positive resveratrol trials we cover in our resveratrol comparison, and costs $5.00 per gram of NR.

On NMN, Life Extension is competitive. Its 90-capsule NMN bottle works out to $1.06 per gram, a little below our $1.11. The difference is capsule strength: its capsules hold 300 mg and ours hold 500 mg per capsule on the front label, so you take fewer of ours for the same amount of NMN. If you want about 300 mg a day and you like the Life Extension brand, its 90-count NMN is good value, and we would say so. The 30-count bottle costs more per gram, at $1.50. For a dose comparison across NMN brands, see our NMN rankings and our Wonderfeel Youngr NMN review, which runs the same numbers on a premium NMN brand.

NR or NMN? Both are NAD+ precursors, and human trials have tested each one on its own, mostly measuring blood NAD+. No trial has shown that one does more for people than the other. Our NMN versus nicotinamide riboside guide covers the evidence for each, and our guide to whether NMN is safe covers tolerability.

Resveratrol: Life Extension’s absorption formula vs a plain 600 mg capsule

Life Extension’s Optimized Resveratrol Elite takes a different route from ours. Each capsule holds a 222 mg blend providing 40 mg of trans-resveratrol and 77 mg of fenugreek galactomannans, plus 3 mg of quercetin, at $27.00 for 60 capsules. That is $0.45 a serving but $11.25 per gram of trans-resveratrol. Life Extension says the formula gives up to 10 times the bioavailability of unformulated resveratrol, a claim it doesn’t support with a study on the product page.

Our Trans-Resveratrol 600mg holds 600 mg of 98% pure trans-resveratrol in one capsule, 90 servings for $59.99, which is $0.67 a serving and $1.11 per gram. The two products answer different questions: a small dose in an absorption formula, or a large plain dose. Our resveratrol comparison sets both against five other brands, and our NMN versus resveratrol guide explains how resveratrol fits with an NAD+ precursor.

The trade-off: a broad catalog or a focused one

The real choice isn’t about quality. Life Extension’s record is good. It’s about the shape of what you buy.

A broad catalog saves time. If your routine is a multivitamin, fish oil, magnesium and one longevity product, one Life Extension order covers it, ships free over $50 and comes with a year to return anything. That is a sensible way to buy.

A focused catalog tends to win on the one ingredient you care most about. Eternal Elixir sells a short list of longevity products in larger capsule strengths, and on NR the difference is more than half the price per gram. We don’t sell multivitamins or fish oil, so we can’t fill the rest of your cabinet. You can also do both: a generalist for the basics and a specialist for the one or two actives you take every day. We apply the same label-first method to other categories, such as our glutathione comparison and our ginseng evidence guide.

Life Extension review verdict: who should buy, who should look elsewhere

Buy Life Extension if you want one order that covers several categories, you value a 365-day return window, or you want NMN at about 300 mg a day, where its 90-count bottle is fairly priced.

Look elsewhere if nicotinamide riboside is the reason you are shopping. At $4.50 per gram, NAD+ Cell Regenerator costs more than twice as much per gram of NR as ours. The same goes if you want a certificate of analysis on the product page rather than by phone, or a resveratrol dose in the hundreds of milligrams.

Our pick: Eternal Elixir Nicotinamide Riboside 500mg. We make it, so weigh that as you read. It holds 500 mg of nicotinamide riboside per capsule, gives 60 servings for $59.99, and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee and free US shipping over $100. Our product page says this exact finished product has not been clinically tested, and that the trials use their own NR material. If you prefer the NMN route, our NMN 500mg is the one we make. Life Extension says finished products are tested for heavy metals, microbes and active ingredient amounts, and that it provides a certificate of analysis for every product when you call customer support. ConsumerLab has tested 38 of its products, most of which passed.

Which brand is better, NOW or Life Extension?

Both have strong testing records. ConsumerLab reports that 38 of the 44 NOW Foods products it selected passed, with 20 Top Picks, and that 20 of the 24 Life Extension products it selected passed. What are the disadvantages of Life Extension?

Its NR costs more per gram than single-ingredient specialists, its NAD+ bottles hold 30 capsules, and you have to phone for a certificate of analysis. Its combined NAD+ and resveratrol products carry only 10 mg of trans-resveratrol per capsule.

What is Life Extension’s return policy?

Supplements bought on its website or by phone can be returned for a refund, exchange or replacement for up to 365 days after purchase. Some returns carry a $5.50 fee for the prepaid shipping label, and not every product can be returned online.
